RS660 Tank Pads

Frequently Asked
Questions

What are HTP Series tank pads made from, and will they damage my riding gear?

HTP Series tank pads are made from a durable, flexible, high-grip rubber compound. The textured surface improves contact between the rider and the motorcycle without relying on hard or sharply raised grip profiles. They are suitable for use with riding jeans, textile pants, and leather suits, although normal contact wear may occur over time.

Are HTP Series tank pads model-specific?

Yes. Every HTP kit is designed for the motorcycle model and model-year range shown on its product page. The shape and coverage are developed around the original tank and factory body panels.

Fitment cannot be guaranteed over existing tank grips, vinyl wraps, paint protection film, ceramic coatings, repainted surfaces, or aftermarket tank covers unless specifically stated. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering.

How securely do HTP Series tank pads stay attached?

When installed correctly, the pre-applied 3M VHB adhesive provides a secure bond under normal riding conditions. The mounting surface must be completely clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, wax, polish, ceramic coating, silicone, and other surface-care products.

Avoid directing high-pressure water at the edges or using harsh chemical cleaners. If any part of the pad becomes loose or begins to move, stop using it and reinstall it with new adhesive before riding again.

Can I install HTP Series tank pads myself?

Yes. All HTP Series tank pads use adhesive installation and require no drilling or special tools.

Clean and dry the mounting surface thoroughly, then test-fit every piece before removing the adhesive backing. If necessary, warm the pads and mounting surface to approximately 25–30°C (77–86°F). Apply each piece with clean, dry hands, press firmly and evenly across the entire surface, and allow the adhesive to set for at least 12 hours before riding. Detailed installation instructions are included with every kit.

Can HTP Series tank pads be removed and reinstalled?

Yes, provided the pads remain undamaged and the adhesive is completely replaced before reinstallation. Gently warm the pad with a hair dryer or low-temperature heat gun, then peel it away slowly by hand. Do not use blades or sharp tools.

Any remaining adhesive can be removed with gentle heat or a paint-safe adhesive remover after testing it on an inconspicuous area. Before reinstalling, confirm that the pad and mounting surface are undamaged and that the new adhesive makes complete contact.

Uninstalled products may be returned in accordance with our return policy. If an incorrect model or model year was ordered, the customer is responsible for return shipping. Installed or used products cannot be returned unless a verified manufacturing defect is present.
